Visa application for studies in Belgium

Procedure 

Step 1 – Complete your electronic application form on Visa on Web (VOW)  

Creating your personal account on Visa On Web (VOW) is a mandatory preliminary step for filling out the visa application form. 

Step 2 – Make an appointment on VOW and lodge your application at TLS 

Appointments with TLScontact can only be made through Visa On Web (VOW). Please note that only the TLScontact center in Yaoundé is authorized to accept student visa applications. 

Your visa application must be complete when you submit it. If it is not, TLScontact will forward it as is to the Belgian Embassy, along with a signed waiver. 

The list of documents required for studies in Belgium is available on the Immigration Office website and below. 

Only the documents mentioned on this list will be accepted by TLScontact. 

Note that there are now two separate lists: one for studies at accredited institutions of higher education and one for programs at private institutions.   

GCE Advanced Level and Baccalaureate diplomas, as well as transcripts, must exceptionally be submitted to the application file as copies. All other higher education diplomas, however, must be the original diplomas.

Note: before submitting their visa application to TLScontact, English-speaking applicants must have their diplomas authenticated in person by the GCE Board, the sole competent authority in this matter, which will forward the results directly to the Belgian Embassy via the email address yaounde.visaetudes@diplobel.fed.be.

After submitting their application to TLScontact, French-speaking applicants must submit their secondary education diploma and transcripts for authentication, with the receipt they received from TLScontact, to the Cameroon Baccalaureate Office (OBC), the sole competent authority in this matter, which will forward the results directly to the Belgian Embassy via the email address yaounde.visaetudes@diplobel.fed.be.

The legalization of the criminal record certificate must be done before lodging a complete visa application. An appointment can be made at TLScontact after the MINREX legalization. 

Diplomas and transcripts can be legalized once and if the visa is granted. 

Step 3 – Questionnaire 

On the day of your visit to the TLScontact center in Yaoundé, after you’ve submitted your student visa application, you may be asked to fill out a questionnaire at the Belgian Embassy.   

The time of your appointment will be provided when you submit your application to TLScontact. 

Note: You must present your original National Identity Card in order to be able to fill out your questionnaire. 

Step 4 – Interview 

After reviewing your application and questionnaire, the Belgian Embassy may schedule an interview to be conducted by a Belgian consular officer. In that case, the interview will take place in person at TLScontact in Yaoundé. 

Details regarding this step (day and time) will be provided in due course.

VISA APPLICATION FOR ENTRANCE EXAMS FOR MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY IN BELGIUM (Visa C: 8 days/1 entry)

Procedure

Step 1 – Complete your electronic application form visa C (duration to request 8 days/1 entry) via Visa On Web

Creating your personal account on Visa On Web (VOW) is a mandatory preliminary step for filling out the visa application form.

Select Short Stay Student visa when completing your Visa On Web form and booking your appointment on the TLS website.

Step 2 – Make an appointment via Visa On Web and submit your visa application

Appointments with TLScontact can only be made through Visa On Web (VOW).

When submitting your application, your file must be complete. If it is not the case, TLScontact will forward it as is to the Belgian Embassy, along with a signed waiver.

The list of required documents is:

• A signed national passport, valid for at least 3 months after the expiry date of the visa applied for, containing at least two blank pages + a copy of the first two pages of the passport and a copy of any pages containing a visa;
• a certificate of registration for the entrance exam for medicine and dentistry issued by ARES;
• a diploma or study certificate which gives access to Belgian higher education (secondary school diploma or baccalaureate);
• proof of equivalence of the diploma or baccalaureate, or a certificate confirming that an application for equivalence has been submitted;
• the transcript of marks;
• all information necessary to establish that registration for the entrance exam is a plausible extension of the applicant’s studies or professional career;
• proof of accommodation valid for the entire duration of the stay (accommodation confirmation, hotel booking, etc.);
• proof that the applicant has sufficient personal means of support for the duration of their stay*, or a declaration of financial support from a person who meets the requirements to act as a sponsor (Annex 3bis);
• travel health insurance valid for the entire duration of the stay;
• proof of return to the country of origin or residence before the visa expires, i.e. any documents or information demonstrating that the applicant genuinely intends to leave the Schengen Area after taking part in the entrance exam.

Only these documents will be accepted by TLScontact when submitting the application.

The Embassy may demand a non-refundable and non-exchangeable return ticket before issuing the visa.

Exemption for the following categories of students:

• EU citizens students
• Students benefiting from a scholarship or an exchange program of the EU
• Students benefiting from an official interuniversity exchange program between a Belgian university or university of higher education and a Cameroonian high school
• Students enrolled in a doctoral program at a Belgian university
• Students not resident in Cameroon residing in a country for which the Embassy of Belgium has visa jurisdiction: Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic

These students may submit their applications directly to the embassy.
